To have a smooth-running and efficient oral and maxillofacial surgery practice, OMSs need to instill a culture of personal responsibility in the team. When the practice culture promotes accountability, tasks get done and results are achieved. In this session, attendees will learn practical leadership and management skills they can implement immediately. This session provides a proven framework for motivating team members, keeping them on task and teaching them to be not only “self-starters” but “self-finishers” by meeting deadlines and carrying out tasks to completion. The session will present the “open book test” evaluation system that turns employee evaluations from tedious chores into useful management tools that clarify expectations and challenges employees to do their best. Attendees also will learn numerous non-monetary means to recognize employees for a job well done and motivate them to take their training and expertise to the next level. Using the latest research from the business literature and examples from actual OMS practices, this session will help attendees elevate their management skills to the level of their excellent clinical outcomes.
