This course will describe techniques on how to manage impacted second molars, including the use of TADs, exposing impacted second molars and bonding brackets to second molars. There will be an emphasis on surgical uprighting, including indications, contraindications, complications and management of these complications.
Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this presentation, participants should be able to:
Determine when to perform surgical uprighting and when to choose a different treatment modality for malposed second molars.
Analyze the right time to perform the surgery and when not to perform it.
Discuss the risks of the procedures.
Assess how to correct if the procedure does not go as planned.
Determine if its best to extract the second molars and allow the third molars to move forward into the sites of the second molars.
