Blepharoplasty is one of the most common facial cosmetic surgeries performed. This course will examine diagnosis, treatment planning, surgical execution and follow-up as well as more complex topics such as ptosis repair, canthopexy, canthoplasty and optimization of the lid/cheek junction. Discussions will include blepharoplasty complications and how to avoid them or manage them when encountered..

Learning Objectives:

At the conclusion of this presentation, participants should be able to:
  1. Describe facial anatomy, physiology and soft- and hard-tissue changes that occur in the aging midface, lids and brow.
  2. Recognize common and uncommon complications that may occur with blepharoplasty procedures that can be avoided by recognizing relevant facial anatomy and patient variations.
  3. Demonstrate an accurate and thorough diagnosis of the various cosmetic deformities in the regions of the upper and midface and be able to develop a specific treatment plan.
  4. Discuss the various surgical approaches used to correct deformities of the lower lid and cheek and consider possible surgical complications and their avoidance.
  5. Examine various surgical approaches used to correct deformities of the upper lid, brow and forehead and consider possible surgical complications and their avoidance.
