Patients with multiple medical conditions and morbid obesity are becoming a challenge for the provision of office-based anesthesia. Existing guidelines and literature do not address the anesthetic management of these high-risk patients with an unprotected airway. This course specifically addresses new anesthetics and adjunctive drugs, complications related to airway and mitigation, and problems related to specific groups of patients.

Learning Objectives:

At the conclusion of this presentation, participants should be able to:
  1. Describe the various patient-related risk factors that present as a challenge to provide office-based anesthesia.
  2. Analyze new and existing perioperative drugs to be considered for safe provision of anesthesia.
  3. Identify and discuss various airway complications related to office-based anesthesia.
