This course will focus on modern techniques in orthognathic surgery. Discussions will include the history of the LeFort I and updates to the technique and planning associated with these cases. The session also will review segmental surgery, the avoidance of wiring in final splints and selective use of custom guides and plating as well as workflows that clinicians can use to plan and operate on these cases.

At the conclusion of this presentation, participants should be able to:
Determine how to work up and plan a maxillary orthognathic case efficiently.
Utilize different surgical instruments and techniques to make their surgery more efficient and successful.
Demonstrate segmental maxillary surgery with more confidence and fewer instruments.
Discuss the concept of palatal struts replacing final splints wired to the maxilla.
