Mark A. Egbert DDS, FACS
Dr. Egbert is a surgeon in the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Seattle Children’s Hospital where he has practiced full time since 2000. Prior to that he spent 14 years as the Chief of OMS at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, a Level I trauma center for the WAMI and North Pacific Maritime regions. He is an associate professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMS) at the University of Washington School of Dentistry and has an adjunct appointment in the Division of Plastic Surgery in the UW School of Medicine.
Caring for children with oral and maxillofacial surgical needs is Dr. Egberts primary clinical interest. He is the senior surgeon on the Seattle Children’s Cleft Craniofacial Team and enjoys treating a broad spectrum of pediatric patient needs including cleft lip and palate, syndromic dental-skeletal dysplasia, JIA and other aspects of temporomandibular care, and a wide variety of oral and facial pathology.
Dr. Egbert lives with the belief that children are precious, and that the privilege of caring for other people’s children is both an honor and a profound responsibility.
He is currently President of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS). He was a Washington State Society delegate to the AAOMS House for 14 years and has served on many House and AAOMS committees. Prior to becoming a trustee, Dr. Egbert served for three years on the OMSF Board of directors. He is a past president of the Western Society of OMS and of the Washington State Society of OMS. A champion of quality education and life-long learning, he served for eight years on the examining committee of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and spent six years as a CODA site visitor for OMS-residency program accreditations.
