Dr. Ghunaim is board certified Maxillofacial Prosthodontist. She completed her dental and advanced prosthodontic training at the University Of Maryland School Of Dentistry. She then completed a fellowship in Maxillofacial Prosthetics at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Dr. Ghunaim then returned to the University Of Maryland School of Dentistry to join the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery as a clinical assistant professor. She was involved in training of dental student and residents. Dr. Ghunaim is currently the Director of the Advanced Prosthodontics Program at Univerisity of Illinois Chicago College of Dentistry. She specializes in the rehabilitation of patients with head and neck defects or deficits due to cancer therapy, traumatic injuries, alteration in growth and development or congenital birth defects. She also focuses on the dental management of head and neck radiation patients.
Her specialties include: oral management of patients treated with head and neck radiation, prosthetic rehabilitation of tongue and mandibular defects, maxillary defects, soft palate defects, cleft lip and palate and other craniofacial anomalies, and facial defects. Dr. Ghunaim is a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics, a fellow of the American College of Prosthodontists, a fellow of the American Academy of Maxillofacial Prosthetics, and a member of the American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics.
