Dr. Roderick Y Kim is a board certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon, and one of 37 surgeons in the United States with certificate of added qualifications in head and neck oncologic and reconstructive surgery. He is the director of research at the department of oral and maxillofacial surgery at John Peter Smith Health Network, and vice division director of maxillofacial oncology and reconstructive surgery. He is the co-fellowship director of the oral, head and neck oncology, and microvascular reconstructive surgery.
He attended University of Washington School of Dentistry, followed by University of Michigan Medical School where he completed internship in general surgery, as well as residency training in oral and maxillofacial surgery. He furthered his specialization with fellowships in oral, head and neck oncologic surgery, followed by microvascular reconstructive surgery at John Peter Smith Health Network.
He has lectured nationally and internationally and has authored many manuscripts in the areas of head and neck oncology, as well as microvascular reconstructive surgery. He has authored multiple book chapters. His clinical interest includes the full breadths of head and neck pathology and endocrine surgery, with special interest in microvascular reconstructive surgery.
