Lieutenant Commander Choi, Kyu is a third year resident at Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery program at Naval Medical Center San Diego. LCDR Choi earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Human Science with a Minor in Mathematics from Georgetown University, Washington, District of Columbia. With the Health Professions Scholarship Program, he commissioned as an Ensign in the Naval Reserves in 2014 and completed his degree in Doctor of Dental Medicine from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts in 2017. In his first year in the U.S. Navy, he completed his General Practice Residency at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. After his GPR, he completed tours as a general dentist in Naval Medical Hospital Guam and Marine Corps Recruiting Depot Prior to starting his residency in 2021.
LCDR Choi’s military awards include Navy and Marine Commendation Medal with two gold stars in lieu of 3rd award, Joint Service Achievement Award, Overseas Service Ribbon, Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon, Armed Forces Service Ribbon, Marksman Rifle Qualification and Sharpshooter Pistol Qualification
