Barry C. Boyd, DMD, MD, FACS

Barry Boyd, D.M.D., M.D., FACS, is the director of the residency training program in oral & maxillofacial surgery. He previously held an academic appointment as clinical associate professor at the State University of New York at Buffalo, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He joined Christiana Care after a 20 year span at that institution as director of undergraduate education, resident educator and research mentor. He has been a member of medical dental staff at Erie County Medical Center and Kaleida Health Hospital System of Western New York. Dr. Boyd is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgery. He has published numerous articles in peer reviewed journals and textbook chapters. He has been an invited presenter at numerous regional, national and international conferences.

Dr. Boyd earned his doctor of dental medicine degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. He then completed a general practice dental residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital where he also served as a fellow in dental medicine at Harvard University School of Dental Medicine. He received specialty training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Allegheny General Hospital while earning his medical degree from the Medical College of Pennsylvania/Hahnemann University. He then completed an internship in general surgery at Mercy Hospital of Pittsburgh.

Dr. Boyd is an active member of national professional organizations including the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, National Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society and Delta Sigma Delta Dental Fraternity. In addition he is a member of the Delaware Valley Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Middle Atlantic Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and the Delaware Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
