Dr. Michael Johnson is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Yale School of Medicine and full-time faculty at Yale-New Haven Hospital (YNHH), where he serves as the Program Director for the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency training program and Chief of Dentistry and Oral Maxillofacial Surgery. Dr. Johnson also sees private practice patients at Coastal Connecticut OMS in Hamden, CT.
Dr. Johnson performs the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery.
Dr. Johnson has been involved in various research projects and has mentored multiple Yale residents in their research, resulting in publications and presentations at national meetings.
Dr. Johnson has lectured locally and nationally on topics that include head and neck history and physical exam, craniofacial surgery, maxillofacial bone grafting for dental implants, orthognathic surgery, maxillofacial trauma, head and neck infections, anesthesia, safety culture, office-based emergency preparedness, and the surgical management of medically complex patients. Additionally, he teaches resident courses in Surgical Anatomy, Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology, and Anesthesia Emergency Management.
Dr. Johnson is the proud recipient of the Bernard Levine Teacher of the Year Award.
