Kyle S. Ettinger, M.D., D.D.S., is an Assistant Professor of Surgery in the Section of Head & Neck Oncologic and Reconstructive Surgery, Division of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Department of Surgery at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Dr. Ettinger’s clinical expertise and interests include head & neck oncologic surgery, microvascular reconstruction, hard and soft tissue virtual surgical planning, 3D printing, and use of patient specific custom implants to provide comprehensive and functional reconstructions for a multitude of diagnostic indications. Dr. Ettinger is actively involved in clinical research, resident education, and is the Assistant Program Director of the oral and maxillofacial surgery residency program at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Dr. Ettinger completed his dental training at the University of Washington School of Dentistry in Seattle, Washington, his medical training at Mayo Clinic Medical School in Rochester, Minnesota, his oral and maxillofacial residency training at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, and fellowship training in head & neck oncologic and reconstructive surgery at the University of Florida-Jacksonville in Jacksonville, Florida. Dr. Ettinger has published numerous scientific manuscripts on a multitude of topics pertaining to oral and maxillofacial surgery and head and neck oncology. He has also authored textbook chapters on the diagnosis and management of head and neck sarcomas, the treatment of facial trauma, and the principles of local, regional, and free flap reconstruction of the head and neck. Dr. Ettinger has received numerous accolades including being the 2020 recipient of the Faculty Educator Development Award (FEDA) from AAOMS and the OMS Foundation, a recipient of the OMS Foundation 2022 Laskin Award from the Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and being selected as a Mayo Clinic Scholar in 2017-2018.
