Dr. Nicholas J. Bournias is a practicing oral and maxillofacial surgeon in the Detroit metropolitan area. After completing his undergraduate education at Oakland University in Michigan, he received his dental degree from the University of Detroit in 1990. Dr. Bournias completed his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan in 1994. In addition to his private practice, he is the Chief of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine, and a member of the Craniofacial team. Dr. Bournias has been a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery since 1996. He has served as a committee member of the Michigan Dental Association Insurance Financial Group for four years. He has held the past position of State of Michigan Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Specialty Board Examiner and has also served on the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Examination Committee for seven years. He is a past member on the State of Michigan Board of Dentistry. Dr. Bournias is the former Co-Chair of the Cleft Lip and Palate Clinic at the Hurley-Mott Hospital in Flint, Michigan. Working in various capacities with OMSNIC, he has been a member of the OMSNIC Advisory Board, the Underwriting Appeals Committee, the Underwriting Committee and Claims Committee. He has been a Director of the Company since 2016 and of Fortress beginning in 2017. He has also served as a Director of The River Agency since 2017.
