This session reviews thought-provoking and current concepts regarding the diagnosis and management of singular pathologic entities in the oral and maxillofacial region. The discussion of these diagnostic categories is paramount to a comprehensive understanding of benign and malignant tumors of this anatomic region.

Learning Objectives:

At the conclusion of this presentation, participants should be able to:
  1. Discuss the diagnostic and treatment strategies of the unknown primary cancer of the neck.
  2. List the most common metastatic tumors of the head and neck.
  3. Examine the evidence for surgical management of benign jaw tumors with curative intent.
  4. Explain alternative medical management of benign jaw tumors.
  5. Evaluate surgical treatment strategies associated with major salivary gland tumors.
