Women's cardiovascular physiology and health is different from men's. They may present with different symptomatology, and more females are on hormone replacement therapy. These factors can directly impact the anesthesia given to female patients. This session will review the differences and medications so OMSs can offer optimal care and support to female patients.

Learning Objectives:

At the conclusion of this presentation, participants should be able to:

Analyze the unique features of women's cardiovascular health and anesthetic considerations.
Determine how to best screen and assess for cardiovascular symptoms in women.
Explain the impact of menopause and hormone replacement activity on cardiovascular health.
Examine pitfalls from prior case closed scenarios.
