Simultaneously treating dentofacial deformities and obstructive sleep apnea is not a new concept. Yet as the cumulative experience in this treatment grows and the literature evolves, OMSs must stay informed of the most modern techniques to manage patients with coexisting dentofacial deformities and OSA. This plenary session will cover select topics such as identifying patients for sleep workups and palatal expansions as well as virtual treatment planning and perioperative management.
Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this presentation, participants should be able to:
Identify patients with dentofacial disharmonies that would benefit from a sleep workup.
Identify differences in palatal expansion techniques and patients that may benefit from such treatment.
Determine the benefits of virtual treatment planning for alteration of the occlusal plane with the goal of maximizing airway change while balancing cosmetics.
Utilize ERAS protocols, including multimodal analgesia, to improve perioperative outcomes and reduce hospital stays.
