Orthognathic surgery results are dependent not only on the healing of the facial skeleton and occlusion but the overall well-being of the patient. This session will elaborate on crucial post-surgical factors to implement once a patient is discharged that may optimize recovery and return to baseline faster. The roles of sleep, mobility, nutrition, supplements, hydration, hygiene and emotional health in the recuperation process and their importance in achieving the desired surgical outcome will be discussed.
Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this presentation, participants should be able to:
Determine how to safely discharge patients that meet the criteria home same day after surgery which commences their recovery period.
