In this course, a pharmacologist and an OMS will review the latest finding on third molar pain literature and provide clinicians with multiple modalities of effective pain management while reducing the need for opioid prescriptions. Discussions will highlight potential avenues for patient-specific pain management plans and describe studies on how biomarkers can be used to appropriately prescribe pain regimens for third molar surgery.

Learning Objectives:

At the conclusion of this presentation, participants should be able to:
  1. Determine safe and effective pain management regimens for outpatient third molar surgery.
  2. Examine the most up-to-date pain regimens and emerging pain management agents.
  3. Develop patient-specific pain managements regimens and understand the role of biomarkers in pain management.
