Augmentation of the alveolar ridge is required for ideal implant placement. The case-oriented course will demonstrate that long-term success is not difficult to achieve by following basic principles of wound healing and surgical science. Topics will include material handling, expected success rates, morbidity comparing methods, bone defects and patient factors to be considered to avoid failure. In addition, discussions will touch on material considerations with an emphasis on resorption patterns and different techniques with a focus on comparisons between methods and materials used for augmentation. Cases with up to 40 years follow-up will be shown.
Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this presentation, participants should be able to:
Determine what material considerations are used to achieve long-term success.
Explain the importance of patient selection on long-term results.
Examine the techniques that can be used to limit morbidly and increase success.
