B.D. Tiner, DDS, MD, FACS, was introduced as the 103rd President of AAOMS during its virtual House of Delegates sessions in September 2020.
With AAOMS’s other officers and Board of Trustees, Dr. Tiner assumed leadership of the professional organization representing more than 9,000 oral and maxillofacial surgeons for 2020-21. Dr. Tiner of San Antonio, Texas, previously served as President-Elect, Vice President and District V Trustee.
For 25 years, Dr. Tiner served as a dental officer in the U.S. Navy, retiring as Captain in 2000. He has been an adjunct clinical professor after previously serving as tenured associate professor and director of the residency program in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Dr. Tiner, who entered full-scope private practice in 1996 in San Antonio, also is Past President of ABOMS, the Southwest Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and the Texas Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He retired from Alamo Maxillofacial Surgical Associates in May 2021, concluding a 40-year career in clinical practice.
Dr. Tiner earned his DDS from the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry and his MD from the University of Texas Medical School at San Antonio. He completed his OMS residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.
