Dr. Wendall Mascarenhas was born and raised in Toronto and attended York University for his undergraduate education. He then completed dental school at the University of Western Ontario where he graduated top of his class achieving 12 awards including the UWO Gold Medal. After completing a General Practice Residency (GPR) at the London Health Sciences Centre, he moved to Montreal to complete a six-year OMFS/MD combined surgical residency at McGill University. His passion for orthognathic surgery and facial trauma led him to pursue a fellowship at the Carolinas Center for Oral and Facial Surgery in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Dr. Mascarenhas owns and operates Four Corners Oral Surgery located in Brampton offering the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery to patients. In addition, he is a part-time faculty member of the University of Toronto’s Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery department. His responsibilities include running a weekly clinic at Mt. Sinai hospital, taking call, giving lectures to the residents and dental students, and supervising the jaw surgery clinic at the Faculty.
In 2020, Dr. Mascarenhas created the Teeth & Titanium podcast, an oral surgery podcast which is supported by the Canadian Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (CAOMS) with a new episode released each month. He also serves on the executive committee of the CAOMS as the Membership Chair.
Dr. Mascarenhas maintains hospital and operative privileges at the Brampton Civic, Etobicoke General, and Mt. Sinai hospitals. This allows him to treat medically compromised or surgically challenging cases in a hospital environment, including cases of facial trauma, jaw surgery, and oral pathology.
Dr. Mascarenhas has been published numerous times in world-renowned journals including the Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (JOMS), the International Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (IJOMS), and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Cases. One of the projects he is most proud of is CTRead and MRRead; online courses that he created from scratch in order to educate residents and staff on the proper interpretation of CT and MRI scans of the face.
