Dr. Dolwick is a pioneer in the development of TMJ arthrography and surgical procedures for the treatment of TMJ internal derangement. Dr. Dolwick has served on several TMJ study committees for the American Dental Association, National Institutes for Dental Research and the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. Dr. Dolwick has published over 100 papers and co-authored four books. Dr. Dolwick received his DMD from the University of Kentucky and his PhD and certification in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery from the Medical College of Virginia. Dr. Dolwick is Chairman of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Florida College of Dentistry. He is a full-tenured Professor for the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He also serves as a member of the Sleep Medicine Faculty. He is board-certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and is a member of the appropriate professional organizations. In 1993, he received the Research Recognition Award from the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Foundation for his research on temporomandibular disorders. In 2013, he received the Donald B. Osbon Outstanding Teacher Award by the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He recieved the William J. Gies Award in 2021. He also received the Robert V. Walker Distinguised Service Award from AAOMS in 2021..
